gpalift is a GPA calculator operated as a small independent software product. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. It is written to be read, not to hide behind. If something here is unclear, email hello@gpalift.com.
What we collect
If you only use the free calculator: your course list (course names, credit values, grades) is stored in your own browser using localStorage. It never leaves your device and we never receive it. We do not require an account to use any calculator on this site.
If you create an account or buy Pro: we collect your email address through our authentication provider, and we store the transcripts you choose to sync in our database so they are available across your devices. You decide what to sync.
If you pay: payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. We retain a record that a payment or refund happened, the amount, and the associated Stripe identifiers.
Automatically: our servers and CDN log standard request data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps. This is used for security and to keep the site running. We do not build advertising profiles.
How we use it
- To run the calculator and sync your saved transcripts.
- To process payments and refunds.
- To send transactional email (receipts, sign-in links, refund confirmations).
- To keep the service secure and diagnose errors.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of service providers, each handling one job:
- Clerk — account authentication and sign-in.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery.
- OVHcloud — server hosting.
Each provider only receives the data it needs to do its job. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.
What we will never do
- Sell or rent your email address or transcript data.
- Run third-party advertising trackers on calculator pages.
- Share your grades with schools, employers, or anyone else.
Data retention
localStorage data stays until you clear your browser. Synced transcripts and your account stay until you delete them or ask us to. Payment records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting. Server logs rotate on a short cycle.
Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your synced data from your account, or by emailing hello@gpalift.com. We will action deletion requests within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your synced transcripts; localStorage on your own device is yours to clear.
Cookies and local storage
The free calculator uses localStorage to remember your courses between visits. Signed-in users have a session cookie set by our authentication provider. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Children
gpalift is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe. Account credentials are handled by Clerk. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep our surface small on purpose.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, notify account holders by email.
